We are starting a new COMC (Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge) from April 10.  

These classes are held once a week, two hours per class. Now, students who are in the Euclid class can continue to take the COMC class. Below is the detailed schedule for the classes.

We are starting a new COMC (Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge) from April 10.  The following is the detailed information for this class:

1. What is the COMC

The COMC is Canada’s premier national mathematics competition. The purpose of the COMC is to encourage students to explore, discover, and learn more about mathematics and problem solving.

Approximately the top 80 students from the COMC will be invited to write the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO). Students who excel in the CMO will have the opportunity to be selected as part of Math Team Canada. The team consists of six students who will compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

Depending on grade level and performance, students participating in the COMC can also have opportunities to garner awards, win prizes, be considered for scholarships, and get invited to camps.

2. Olympiads School Students’ COMC Results

2019 year, five students from Olympiads School won the Canadian Champions. They were:

• Silver Award: Thomas Guo
• Bronze Award: Michael Li
• Honor Roll: David Tang, Eric Shen, Andrew Dong

Olympiads School’s students also did an amazing job in different Grades Divisions:

• Grade 12
• Silver Award – Michael Li
• Bronze Award – David Tang

• Grade 11
• Gold Award – Thomas Guo
• Bronze Award – Eric Shen
• Honor Roll – Andrew Dong

• Grade 10
• Silver Award – Daniel Yang
• Honor Roll – Kai Wen Yang, Amelie Zhou, Hao Cui

• Grade 8 (awarded 7 students in total)
• Honor Roll – William Dai, Jerry Wang

2018 year, six students from Olympiads School won the Canadian Champions. They were:

• Silver Award: Victor Rong
• Bronze Award: Howard Halim, Eric Shen, William Zhao
• Honor Roll: Thomas Guo, Michael Li
